Wolves show strong interest in Argentine playmaker Enzo Fernandez, but are likely to face competition for his signature.
The 21-year-old, who is considered one of the best prospects in South America, is available for around £17.5 million from the Buenos Aires giants River Plate.
Wolves officials have been in Argentina this week to try to seal the deal, but Benfica is also said to be interested, while the relatively low fee could attract other Premier League clubs.

Fernandez’s former team-mate Julian Alvarez was sold to Manchester City for around £21million earlier this year, while Aston Villa were also interested in Alvarez.
Meanwhile, Wolves are prepared to admit defender Ki-Jana Hoever to PSV Eindhoven after two difficult seasons with Molineux.
Hoever was taken over from Liverpool in the summer of 2020, when Diogo Jota moved from Wolves to Anfield. He was considered one of the best prospects at Anfield but struggled to impress under both Nuno Espirito Santo and Bruno Lage.

The 20-year-old’s days seemed numbered at Wolves after the home defeat to Crystal Palace in March, when Lage launched an extraordinary attack on him after Hoever ran away.
He said: “Ki is a great example of the young kids who want everything but don’t train at the intensity they need or don’t prepare enough.
“I have too many kids on my team who don’t work the way they should, who don’t prepare the way they should. Injuries can happen, but this one happened because he wasn’t prepared. I don’t waste time with guys who don’t work hard.’
