Connecticut Sun star Dijonai Carrington subtweeted Caitlin Clark after the Indiana Fever star appeared to push back against claims about her name being used in an ongoing culture war.
When asked by reporters about the way people use his name in public discourse, Clark responded, “It’s not something I can control, so I don’t spend too much thought or time thinking about things like that,” he said. ‘To be honest, I don’t see much of that.
‘Like I said, basketball is my job. Everything that is outside, I can’t control, so I’m not going to waste time thinking about it.
‘People can talk about what they want to talk about, create conversations about anything. But for my part, I’m just there to play basketball.”
That seemed to be an issue with Carrington, who took to Twitter and said players should say what they see.

‘Dog. “How can we not be bothered that his name is used to justify racism, intolerance, misogyny, xenophobia, homophobia and the intersectionalities of all of them is crazy,” Carrington tweeted.
‘We all see the shit. We all have a platform. We all have a voice and everyone has weight. Silence is a luxury.
In recent days, the discourse surrounding Clark – especially his lack of inclusion on the United States Olympic roster – has reached a high level of toxicity on the Internet.
It’s evolved from beyond a basketball conversation to a point where, as Andscape writer David Dennis Jr. said in Around the Horn, ‘there are fringe people who exist and who are in real life, not just internet trolls; politicians, pundits and the like – (are) using Caitlin Clark as an avatar to lash out at people they despise: primarily the makeup of the WNBA, black women and others.’
Controversial conservative pundit Jason Whitlock has blamed the “black gay mafia” and “angry lesbians” for why Clark was not included on the US team.
Another conservative pundit, Clay Travis, claimed that people target Clark because she is a “straight white woman in a black lesbian league.”
Even a Republican governor, Glenn Youngkin of Virginia, said Clark deserved a spot on the U.S. Olympic team roster.

It has been claimed that Clark has been attacked in the WNBA for being “straight and white.”
Carrington and Clark have had a bit of history despite the latter’s recent introduction to the league.
Just a few days ago, Carrington was ridiculed for mocking what she considered a failure when Clark was called for a foul.
Carrington is one of the Sun’s best players, who have the best record in the WNBA at 11-1.
