Newlywed WNBA star Kelsey Plum is having fun on social media after her husband, Darren Waller, was shockingly traded to the New York Giants.
The Giants dumped a third-round pick to the Las Vegas Raiders for the tight end on Tuesday, just over a week after the sporty couple tied the knot.
Plum, reigning WNBA champion with the Las Vegas Aces, married Waller on March 4, according to People magazine. The couple reportedly started dating last year.
ESPN analyst and former NFL star Robert Griffin III reacted to the Waller trade on Twitter, specifically how it reflected on Raiders coach Josh McDaniels.
“Darren Waller JUST MARRIED Kelsey Plum of the Las Vegas Aces and Josh McDaniels wedding gift was to trade him to the New York Giants. McDaniels is NOT a romantic,” Griffin tweeted.
Plum joined in on the fun, quoting and tweeting Griffin’s comment, adding: “Probably because he wasn’t invited to the wedding lol.”

After going viral, Plum took to Twitter again to clarify that she was joking.
“It was a joke people LOL. I love Las Vegas, here to defend the title. I’ll put my phone down now,” she tweeted, adding emojis and an “Office” GIF of Dwight putting out a fire.
However, there could be something to Plum’s original tweet.
Waller was reportedly upset with McDaniels for leaking news of the couple’s wedding during an interview at the NFL Combine earlier this month after keeping their plans private.
“Waller was upset with McDaniels when the Las Vegas Review-Journal published a story announcing that the wedding was scheduled for later in the week. The couple had not publicly announced their plans to marry,” Athletic NFL reporter Vic Tafur wrote on Twitter.
Coincidentally, McDaniels spent that weekend at the wedding of fellow Raider Maxx Crosby.
While NFL schedules have yet to be revealed, Waller will have a chance at a revenge game. The Giants are set to take on the Raiders in Las Vegas this upcoming season.
