Dijonai Carrington, the Connecticut Sun player who now notoriously poked Caitlin Clark in the eye during the WNBA playoffs, mocked the incident during an Instagram live stream on Wednesday.
Filming with his girlfriend and fellow WNBA player NaLyssa Smith, who is Clark’s Indiana Fever teammate, Carrington appeared to stage a dramatic reenactment of the moment he pushed Clark.
Smith deliberately sought to get his girlfriend’s attention before Carrington said: “You poked me in the eye” with a smile on his face.
The couple then began laughing and Carrington asked, “Did you do that on purpose?”, also appearing to mock USA TODAY columnist Christine Brennan.
While Clark was left with a black eye from the actual incident in the game, he said the hit to the eye was “not intentional.”

No foul was called despite the contact leaving the 22-year-old in agony on the ground.
However, the moment continued to make headlines after Brennan asked Carrington if the poke to the eye was deliberate.
She also asked if she and a teammate had laughed about it afterward.
Carrington denied that she intended to harass Clark, but the WNBA players’ union reacted angrily to Brennan’s line of questioning and called for her credentials to be revoked.
“To non-professional members of the media like Christine Brennan: You are not misleading anyone,” the statement said.
‘The alleged interview in the name of journalism was a blatant attempt to incite a professional athlete to participate in a false narrative and designed to fuel racist, homophobic and misogynistic vitriol on social media. You can’t hide behind your mandate.’
“Instead of demonstrating the cornerstones of journalism ethics such as integrity, objectivity and a fundamental commitment to the truth, you have chosen to be indecent and downright false,” they added.
Clark sported a clear glow in his right eye in his postgame press conference.
‘He has abused his privileges and does not deserve the credentials granted to him. And you certainly have no right to any interviews with members of this union or any other athletes in this sport.
Brennan later revealed on iHeart’s ‘Good game with Sarah Spain’ that Carrington’s teammate, DeWanna Bonner, approached her afterward about her line of questioning.
Spain later reported that Brennan also filed a complaint against Bonner, but Brennan denied it.
Although Clark’s Fever and Carrington’s Sun have been eliminated from the postseason, the WNBA playoffs still continue with the Liberty losing 1-0 to the Lynx.
