At the time of this post, it’s unclear which other players have been dealing with an illness, as Carter is the only person on Chicago’s injured list.

Fans speculated that because Carter was the only one on the injury report, she could be the source of any potential outbreak, with one saying, “The entire WNBA is about to get Covid because of Chennedy Carter.”

Many more on social media wished Carter well and told her to feel better as she recovers.

The news comes less than 24 hours before the Mystics’ game against the Sky is scheduled to begin at Wintrust Arena in suburban Chicago. The Sky are also scheduled to play the Indiana Fever on Friday.

According to Pagliocca, the team believes it will have enough healthy players to field a squad against the Mystics.

The last time Chicago played a game was against the Las Vegas Aces on Sunday, in a narrow 77-75 loss.

Asked by a reporter about the need to test her players, Aces coach Becky Hammon said it was “the first time I’d heard of any illness.” Las Vegas plays the Dallas Wings on Tuesday night.
