Fans criticized Caitlin Clark's Fever teammates during Sunday's game against the Storm

WNBA fans have slammed Caitlin Clark’s Indiana Fever teammates after a scary accident early in Sunday’s game against the Seattle Storm.

In the opening minutes of their game, the rookie sensation drew several defenders out of the paint, leaving room for teammate Kelsey Mitchell to race toward an open basket.

It seemed like they were on the same page when Clark passed to Mitchell for a chance to score Indiana’s first points. However, with no defender in sight, Mitchell managed to miss the layup as the ball bounced off the rim.

Fans took to social media to criticize Mitchell for the mistake. Meanwhile, others went as far as to claim that Clark is carrying the weight of the team.

“Caitlin Clark’s teammates aren’t real dudes,” wrote one with crying and laughing emojis. “She has to do it alone.”

“How could you miss those cute dime bunnies from Caitlin Clark?” added another. “Really?”

“You need to finish this! What a gift from Caitlin Clark!” added a third.

However, the Fever managed to secure a one-point lead at halftime, leading 35-34 over their visitors from the Pacific Northwest.

Clark capitalized on his eight points with two assists and two rebounds in the first two quarters of the game.

On the other hand, Mitchell made up for his early loss and led the Fever in scoring with 11 points.

Additionally, Lexie Hull came off the bench to lift Indiana with ten points in 12 minutes.

The Fever are currently seventh in the league and third in the Eastern Conference with a 12-15 record.

Clark is in a head-to-head race with college rival Angel Reese for Rookie of the Year honors.
