Meteorological services in Bosnia expect more rain to continue throughout the week. As a reminder, floods in May 2014 killed dozens of people and damaged nearly 20,000 homes in the country.
The northern parts of Bosnia experienced severe flooding after heavy rains. Several places were classified as disaster cities after thousands of residents were forced to spend the night outside their flooded homes. As a precautionary measure, municipalities called on residents to leave their homes.
Due to the significant amounts of rain, several rivers deviated from their streams in the low-lying areas in the north, such as the Una, Sana and Bilha rivers, which led to landslides two days after the rains.
Civil protection personnel in the cities of Bihac, Sanski Most, Pridor, Novi Grad and Bosanska Krupa carried out home inspections to evacuate the elderly and those stranded to safe places. And the authorities raised the state of emergency to its maximum, as it works to evacuate thousands of residents and search for the missing.

Floods inundated parts of neighboring Croatia after heavy rains inundated homes, roads and public buildings such as the town of Obrovac, near the coastal city of Zadar on the Adriatic Sea. Schools were forced to suspend lessons after the deterioration of the infrastructure and power outages in parts of the city. In nearby Gracak, scores of people had to evacuate their homes, and many moved to higher floors to avoid rising waters.
