The latest polls showed Kilicdaroglu slightly ahead of his rival, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in a race in which the winner needs to break the required 50% barrier, in order to avoid the run-off on the 28th of this month.
Turkey’s main opposition leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu of the Republican People’s Party concluded his campaign for the presidential elections taking place this Sunday, with a visit to the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the builder of modern Turkey, in the capital, Ankara.
The latest polls showed Kilicdaroglu slightly ahead of his rival, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in a race in which the winner needs to break the required 50% barrier, in order to avoid the run-off on the 28th of this month.
In turn, the candidate of the Justice and Development Party, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, ended his campaign, warning his supporters that they might face an act of reprisal, if his rival won the elections.
The withdrawal of a third candidate from the presidential elections on Thursday helped the opposition, represented by Kilicdaroglu, to strengthen its thorn in front of the ruling Justice and Development Party, and strengthened its hope that it could win.
