The Russian night attack is the latest on Kiev. The wreckage of one of its planes caused material damage, but the Ukrainian army said it shot down 35 drones over the capital.

Russia launched an attack on Monday night, on Kiev, with Iranian-made drones, leaving five wounded and causing severe material damage.

Ukraine’s air command said all 35 Russian planes had been shot down. The military administration of the city of Kiev said that at least five civilians were injured as a result of falling aircraft debris, which also caused damage to buildings.

The Russian night attack is the latest on Kiev. The wreckage of one of its planes caused damage to a two-storey residential building in the western Svyatoshinsky district of the city. The wreckage of another plane hit a car parked nearby.

The mayor of Kiev, Vitali Klitschko, who visited one of the damaged apartments, said the attack was the largest since the beginning of the Russian invasion. He also stressed that the anti-missile systems in the Ukrainian capital were able to shoot down all the drones.

“When will all this end? The bad thing is that we have learned to live with it. We woke up in the morning and took the kids to school, it’s scary,” said Natalia Havrilyuk, a resident of the area.

A spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force said in an interview with local television on Monday morning that the Russian forces targeted the Odessa region in southern Ukraine at night with up to eight cruise missiles.
