2024 was another year defined by generative AI, with software functions put into the hands of millions of people around the world and inevitably integrated into popular services, such as Google Search. While some AI tools, like ChatGPT’s advanced voice mode and Google’s NotebookLM, were nice to interact with, the predominant narrative remained on the technology’s inherent flaws, with rampant hallucinations and ongoing questions about proper data training. .
I mean who could forget Jesus shrimp And other surreal AI-generated images spreading on Facebook? Or when AI Overviews told Google users that it was okay to eat rocks in moderation and put glue on pizza? It was a year in which strange AI-generated content was felt everywhere.
Here at WIRED, 2024 was full of juicy research, deep conversations, and in-depth device reviews. This quiz looking at our journalism throughout the year captures just a small fraction of all the hard work and fantastic articles from my colleagues.
