Winona Ryder has confessed to feeling “part of my life was over” as she reflected on the “cruel” tabloid culture of the early 2000s.
The 50-year-old actress made headlines after she was caught shoplifting at Saks Fifth Avenue department store in Beverly Hills in 2001, after which she was found guilty.
She made the confession to accompany a beautiful cover shoot for Harper’s Bazaar‘s July 2022 issue, in which she sees a smart figure in a black blazer suit.

When attacked by the press during the scandal, the Stranger Things star said: “I absolutely backed down. I was in San Francisco. But I didn’t get any offers either. I think it was a very mutual breakup.
“It’s so interesting when you look at the early children. It was kind of a cruel time.
“There was a lot of meanness out there… And then I remember coming back to LA and — it was a rough time. And I didn’t know if that part of my life was over.’

She shocked Hollywood when she was caught shoplifting at a Beverly Hills department store in 2001.
Winona was eventually convicted of stealing designer items worth nearly £4,000 from an exclusive department store.
She was found guilty of grand theft and vandalism, but not guilty of second-degree burglary on Saks Fifth Avenue in Beverly Hills on December 12.
During her shopping expedition, she bought several items, but stole many more.

Her loot of stolen goods included designer hats, tops, socks, bags and hair accessories ranging in price from £10 to £500.
She also stole a white Gucci dress worth just over £1,000.
Shortly after arriving in Saks on December 12, Ryder bought a pair of Gucci shoes worth around £200.
She spent a total of more than an hour and a half in the store and on a security videotape that the jury had seen, she wandered around and grabbed arms full of designer clothes.

She caught the attention of Saks’ security boss Kenneth Evans when she knelt and stuffed several hair accessories and socks into a hat she was wearing.

On the advice she gives them, she told the magazine, “I want the kids to understand, this isn’t happening,” about a show so timely that people are screaming for your attention.

“They spend their time up north, near San Francisco, although she does commute back and forth to LA for work and to see friends, and she often takes him with her.”
And Winona loves a committed relationship.
