It is understood Lady Perry agreed to appear at the ceremony the night after the coronation service in Westminster Abbey because she wants to highlight her work as an ambassador for the British Asia Trust, a role for which the monarch has appointed her in 2020.
Ms. Perry will join a star-studded cast that includes Take That, Lionel Richie, Andrea Bocelli, Welsh bass-baritone Sir Bryn Terfel, singer-songwriter Freya Ridings and classic soul artist Alexis Ffrench.
The performers’ expenses will be covered but it is not known if their works received an appearance fee at the top.
Produced by BBC Studios – the same organizers behind the Platinum Jubilee concert – the show will feature an eclectic mix of pop, rock and classical music and will be broadcast around the world alongside a stunning light show.
Of all the stars on the bill, Katy Perry is likely seen as the most globally recognized.
Katy Perry has been offered a one-night stay at Windsor Castle as part of a deal to perform at the King’s coronation next month

Perry and her entourage will host a suite of suites at the historic castle, where the concert will take place on Sunday, May 7.
The singer first met the royal at an event in Mumbai in 2019 when he was then the Prince of Wales.
The meeting was undoubtedly memorable for both of them as it was the first – and perhaps the last – time the King would ever ask anyone for a selfie.
Scott Forsdon Wood, a former aide to the King, revealed details of the photo request.
Mr. Fursdon Wood, who was Charles’ deputy private secretary, told the King how much his children loved Mrs. Berry’s music.
Then the king intervened and asked the singer to stand with his aide.
Mr Furssedonn-Wood, now High Commissioner for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, posted details of the encounter on Twitter, saying: ‘Exciting KatyPerry is performing at the #CoronationConcert.
I was with The King in Mumbai in 2019 when he first met her. I told him how much my kids loved her.
“Those of us on the team never asked for selfies. So His Royal Highness asked me ‘He and his family are such fans!’”
Katy Perry previously joined the mental health campaign for the King’s children Princes William and Harry in their heads together, and participated in an awareness video.
Since then I’ve grown closer to Harry – geographically at least.
When the Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved into the celebrity estate of Montecito, Katy Perry and her British fiancé, Orlando Bloom, were neighbors.
Bloom voiced the role of Prince Harry in a controversial cartoon titled The Prince.
Bloom said Harry was “knowing” he would be portraying his neighbor on the HBO Max show, which critics have called a “brutal” portrayal of the duke.
In an interview, Bloom said: “At first, I was like, ‘Okay, how do I feel about this,’ because I’m a British boy who’s very proud of my roots.”
Of Harry, he added: ‘This guy is very nice and I think he has a great sense of humour. I hope he maintains that through this because they are kind of on a pedestal. We show them true love in one way or another.
“I try to justify it, because quite frankly, if I’m being honest, it’s not like I make fun of anyone but it’s done with affection.”
Katy Perry was once famous for criticizing Meghan’s wedding dress.
Speaking about the royal wedding in 2018, she said, “I would have done another proper one.” I will never tell the truth! A more appropriate one, but I love you. Kate, Kate, Kate won, Kate won! “
A celebrity booking agent in Los Angeles said it was not unusual for performers to receive luxury “extras” in exchange for their services.
People like Beyoncé and Katy get invited to all sorts of things. I had a famous client who was invited to perform in the Middle East, and although the money was huge, she didn’t particularly want to perform. The host then offered an all-expenses-paid desert safari on camel and private jet to and from the event, and that settled the event. But this is on a different scale. Who can say that the king invited them to spend the night in his castle? I mean, that’s some bragging rights.
