A new report from The Hollywood Reporter Willem Dafoe will join Beetlejuice 2 as a “law enforcement officer in the afterlife.” Dafoe joins Gina Ortega, Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder, as the latter two return to reprise their roles from the first film. On the other hand, reports revealed that Ortega will play Lydia Dietz, the daughter of Ryder’s character.
Kathryn O’Hara will also return from the original movie. According to reports, Justin Theroux and Monica Bellucci have also been cast in the film.
Tim Burton returns to the directing chair, and plot details are currently being kept under wraps. Beetlejuice 2 production is expected to begin this month.
It is reported that Warner Bros. Discovery officially confirmed the long-awaited sequel during CinemaCon 2023, which was held last month. Beetlejuice 2 is scheduled to hit theaters on September 6, 2024.
