Will Young has revealed he’s “enjoying dating again” and has “rediscovered his libido” during a heart-to-heart chat on Jamie LaingThe big company podcast.
The 45-year-old Pop Idol star, who came out as gay publicly in 2002 when he was 23, said he was always scared of falling in love again in case he got his heart broken.
But the hitmaker has now shared that he’s “met someone really nice” and is having fun “opening his heart” again.
Will, who has just released his ninth album Light It Up, said: ‘I’m dating someone quite nice at the moment, which by the way is a fairly new experience for me because I’m very closed-hearted in relationships.
‘So, (relationships) have not been a pleasure for me at all.’

“Are you a sexual person?” Jamie asked.
Will replied: “Oh, I love sex, I’ve rediscovered it again. I had a bit of a dry spell, but we all do. The libido’s back!”
The singer also admitted that he is “terrible” at relationships due to past heartbreaks that have led him to isolate himself.
He said: ‘Give me something to succeed at and I’ll do it, but relationships are my kryptonite because my heart has been closed.
“I think my heart is opening up, which is a pretty new experience for me… which is nice at 45. I’m enjoying dating for the first time.”
Will also shared that being alone has helped him find happiness within himself, rather than staying in a “lonely” relationship.
He added: “The important thing is that you have to be happy with yourself and that has taken me a long time.
“There’s nothing lonelier than being in the wrong relationship. That’s the loneliest place in the world.”

The singer came out publicly after winning the show amid reports that a newspaper was planning to reveal his homosexuality.
In an interview at the time, Will explained: “For me it’s normal and there’s nothing to be ashamed of. I’m gay and I’m comfortable with that. I don’t really know what all the fuss is about.”
‘I’m sure this won’t surprise many people, although I’ve always been discreet and non-campaigning when it comes to my sexuality.’
However, Will claims that show bosses encouraged him not to come out as gay, leading him to tell them to fuck off.

He said: ‘A record company executive told me I sounded too gay on Leave Right Now, so I had to re-record it.
‘I was working with Annie Lennox’s producer and we sent him the same vocal again and he said, ‘Yeah, I love it!’
‘In 2009 I made a beautiful black and white video, and there’s a moment where I’m dancing with a male mannequin and the record company wanted to remove that from the video. Too gay!’
The Jealousy singer also spoke about the homophobic threats he had experienced after coming out.
She described being chased and fearing for her life while walking with her boyfriend.
He said: ‘I felt pretty exposed and you just have to remember that at the time gay-bashing was a pretty fucking serious thing.
Unfortunately, that’s still the case. And I was right to be a little scared because there were people chasing me and threatening to stab me and my boyfriend. It was horrible, but I wasn’t going to live a lie.
