Drake posted another ridiculous sports bet on his Instagram page, this time beating the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII over the San Francisco 49ers.
The ‘Hotline Bling’ rapper earned 1.15 million with Travis Kelce and company. to win their third World Series in five seasons, with a payout of $2.346 million if Kansas City won, due to the team’s underdog status.
“Can’t bet against speedsters,” Drake said on Instagram as his reasoning for his bet on the Chiefs, with Kelce starting at tight end, as his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, expected to be in the Allegiant Stadium crowd.
Drake’s latest big bet could give San Francisco fans some solace, knowing about the rapper’s infamous sports “curse” when choosing teams and athletes.
Last month, the ‘God’s Plan’ singer contributed $700,000 to Sean Strickland to successfully defend his UFC middleweight championship against Dricus Du Plessis in the main event of UFC 297. Strickland lost the belt via unanimous decision.
Swift has been dating Kelce since last September and has attended a dozen Chiefs games.
Drake has a horrible history with sports betting, but he picked the Chiefs to win Super Bowl LVIII.
Drake also picked his hometown Maple Leafs to win Game 7 of their 2019 playoff series against the Boston Bruins. Toronto lost.
In early 2019, Drake strongly rooted for Alabama to win the CFP National Championship over Clemson. The Tigers dominated the Crimson Tide 44-16 in a stellar performance by Trevor Lawrence.
The rapper also backed Conor McGregor in 2018 for his lightweight title fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov, with the Irishman and Canadian joining forces at the pre-UFC 229 weigh-in.
Nurmagomedov defeated McGregor in the fourth round before the infamous post-fight crowd brawl.
Many new fans have come to the NFL to see Swift since her relationship with Kelce began.
Drake’s huge bet on the Chiefs was made Friday night with an incredible payout
Swift and Drake have never collaborated on a song, but the Canadian mentioned it in his recent song ‘Red Button’.
Drake successfully picked the Chiefs to beat the Eagles in Super Bowl LVII last year with a $700,000 bet. In 2022, he also picked correctly in the Super Bowl, selecting the Rams over the Bengals with a $472,000 bet.
Drake’s history with sports betting is checkered, to say the least. The Super Bowl may be the only event that can counteract his bad betting trend.
