Will Smith revealed in his upcoming interview with David Letterman that he hallucinated a vision of losing his career and fortune while on an ayahuasca drug trip, according to a recently leaked clip posted on Twitter.
The admission for Letterman’s Netflix series My Next Guest Needs No Introduction was surprisingly timed, as the 53-year-old actor recorded the interview before attending the Academy Awards.
During the ceremony, he slapped host Chris Rock onstage after he made a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair loss, and has since had several high-profile projects delayed.
Foreshadowing: Will Smith revealed in his upcoming interview with David Letterman that he hallucinated a vision of losing his career and fortune while on an ayahuasca drug trip, but recorded it before his shocking Oscars slap in the face.
Smith opens the excerpt by admitting that he was “terrified” of drinking ayahuasca, a South American drink made from plants that provokes a psychedelic experience.
People who consume the drink report hallucinations and visions, sometimes even dramatic, that supposedly have therapeutic effects.
“I decided it was something that, you know, I wanted to try,” said the actor who decided after researching the drug.
He described the high as creating two realities that are ‘100 percent present’ at the same time: ‘It doesn’t overlap with this reality. They are totally separate.
While describing his vision of his career implosion, he called it “the single most hellish psychological experience of my life.”

But then, ‘All of a sudden, it’s like I see all my money fly away,’ he told a rapt Letterman.
And my house flies away. And my career is gone,” he continued. ‘And I’m trying to grab my money and my career. My whole life is being destroyed.
The host had him confirm that the vision represented his “real-life fear.”
Vanished: “All of a sudden, it’s like I’m seeing all my money flying,” he told a rapt Letterman. And my house flies away. And my career is gone,’ he said.
