Will Smith hasn’t released a full-length album in nearly 20 years, but on Thursday he took the stage in Los Angeles for a surprise performance of his 1991 hit song “Summertime.”
The 55-year-old entertainer, who performed a new song at this year’s BET Awards, joined singer Coco Jones, 26, at an event celebrating the third season of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air spin-off, which is simply titled Bel-Air.
The drama series, which streams on Peacock, will return to screens on August 15.
To commemorate the upcoming milestone, the show hosted a barbecue with cast members at the Universal Studios Backlot.
Jones sang her latest single, “Here We Go,” before calling Smith, the show’s executive producer, onto the stage.

Smith, whose wife is actress and media personality Jada Pinkett, wore a beige Prada shirt jacket and ivory pants.
His dark hair was cut short and neatly and he looked typically handsome with a thin layer of beard.
Jabari Banks, Olly Sholotan, Jimmy Akingbola, Adrian Holmes, Akira Akbar, Jordan L. Jones and Simone Joy Jones, who star in Bel-Air, were also at the reunion.
Peacock revealed the first look at the drama reboot’s first season in November 2021.
For the trailer, Will provided somber narration by reciting some of the original lyrics from the Fresh Prince theme song.
Banks, 26, plays lead character Will on the show, which is set in modern times and explores his “complicated journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air.”
The synopsis for season three reads: “Being part of the Banks family has given him a new perspective: it’s not just about the wealth, it means Will now has options to pursue other things that excite him and he has the privilege to dream big.”
It continues: “As Will makes a thrilling turn, he finds a companion in Carlton (Sholotan), who desperately wants to leave his life of addiction behind and rebuild his damaged reputation.”
