A man was arrested in dramatic scenes on a Virgin Australia plane in front of horrified passengers, moments before the plane took off.

The incident occurred on board the domestic flight that was set to depart from Melbourne Airport on Tuesday.

Australian Federal Police officers were called to board the plane following reports that the passenger was allegedly behaving in an aggressive and disruptive manner.

Confrontation footage filmed by a fellow passenger shows police speaking to the man.

An officer ordered the man to “get off the flight,” before the man said he was sitting in his seat ready to take the flight and that he paid $5,000 for the flight.

An officer warned the man that he could be arrested if he did not obey orders.

The man, who refused to get up from his seat, was given another warning to follow instructions before the officer attempted to physically force him out of his seat.

“I haven’t done anything, I’m very relaxed,” the man said.

The officer then repeatedly asks the man to “get up” before threatening to use his Taser.

“I’m going to stun you with the Taser, are you ready for that?” the officer said.

“You have to get off the flight now.”

The man then demanded to know what he had done, before officers physically removed him from his seat and escorted him off the plane.

An AFP spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia that the flight crew asked officers for help.

“AFP officers detained a passenger and removed him from a domestic flight before departure for alleged aggressive and disruptive behavior,” the spokesperson said.

“The AFP continues to investigate the incident.”

A Virgin Australia spokeswoman declined to comment on the “ongoing police matter”.

However, it is unclear where the flight was headed. Multiple Virgin flights flew to all capital cities on Tuesday.
