Wild footage has emerged of a brawl between partygoers in the center of one of Sydney’s most popular family nightspots.
About half a dozen people were involved in the melee along Barangaroo Pier moments after the weekly 9pm fireworks on Saturday.
Footage from the scene shows the men struggling with each other as a female bystander and security guards from a nearby nightclub tried to separate them.
One of the taller men could be seen preparing to throw big punches before reaching the air.
Others continued to grab each other by the neck, causing one man’s shirt to tear in the front, exposing his chest.
The fight then spread to a nearby bench leaving the taller man trapped under another as spectators cheered and booed the fighters.
The man with the torn shirt was seen punching the taller man before pointing at him and shouting in his face.
He then savagely beat another man who was approaching him with his arms outstretched, leaving his shirt almost completely torn from his torso.
Wild images have emerged of a shocking brawl at a popular tourist and nightlife spot moments after fireworks were set off in Sydney.
An onlooker told Daily Mail Australia that the fight broke out on the pier “very quickly.”
“One moment I was recording the fireworks and the next there was the fight,” he said.
The fireworks that are launched moments before the fight are launched every Saturday at 9 pm from Cockle Bay in Sydney Harbour.
While the city staged a huge fireworks display to ring in the New Year just days before, Sydney City Council considers the weekly display to be one of the main attractions.
“Whether you’re a local Sydney resident or a tourist, what better way to end a meal or entertainment than with an incredible array of fireworks at one of Sydney’s most glorious coastal locations,” reads the council’s website.
“When it comes to fun things to do in Sydney, it really doesn’t get any better than that.”
A NSW Police spokesperson said there were no reports of any incidents in Barangaroo.
