We’re all guilty of the occasional KFC treat, and it seems kangaroos are no exception.
A West Australian filmed the crazy moment a kangaroo wandered into a KFC restaurant in Busselton on Sunday night and then shared it on social media.
Filming from the parking lot, Torrie Bolton captured the kangaroo jumping to a great height, while at least two customers behaved as if it were a normal night in their city.
After dodging the tables, the kangaroo appeared to be heading for the exit, but then got spooked by the automatic door and bounced off.
But a later clip showed him eventually escaping through the sliding door and heading across the parking lot to freedom.
It’s not known if the kangaroo was angry over an order gone wrong, but KFC confirmed that no customers, staff members or marsupials were harmed in the unexpected adventure.
Among the nearly 1,000 comments that appeared under the video, one person wrote that it was “the most Australian thing I’ve seen coming from Australia.”
“This is Australia,” wrote another.
Others joked that the kangaroo was looking for food, just like anyone else. “Skippy wants his box of treats,” wrote one.
Others were stunned by the lack of reaction from customers. “Bro was just sitting there like nothing happened,” said one. “I’m from Australia and that’s how it is too.”
Another, possibly joking, asked: What country is this?
However, some thought the kangaroo might file a lawsuit, with one writing: “Roo should sue, that door wasn’t clearly marked.”
“No one thought to keep the door open. I guess they thought Skippy had already solved the automatic door problem,” wrote another.
This wasn’t the only recent close encounter with a wild animal in Australia, although the koala that ventured into a supermarket in Victoria was much calmer.
Videos and photographs captured the koala wandering the aisles, climbing shelves, crawling on newspapers and inspecting children’s toys at Meeniyan IGA in Victoria’s Gippsland region on Monday.
The friendly creature eventually needed help from staff to get down from the top of a spice rack.
Some viewers of a video of a kangaroo jumping wildly in a fast food outlet while customers continue eating are calling it the most Australian thing they have ever seen.
“He has a little resting area in the trees in the middle of town and he decided to walk around a little bit and ended up at our door and was very determined to get in,” IGA store owner Kaelene Shervall told the Today show on Tuesday.
‘We had great difficulty getting him out of there.
“The main thing was that he was just looking to climb somewhere and when he couldn’t get any higher up on the herb stand, that’s when I brought out the platform ladder and he decided he liked it better that way,” she said.
Daily Mail Australia has contacted KFC for comment on the unusual visitor to its Busselton outlet.
