A young woman recently experienced an “embarrassing” encounter in public that some have described as every wife’s “worst nightmare,” and she is not alone.
The unnamed Australian was dancing with her husband, but when he went to the bathroom some strangers ran up to her and asked if she was being harassed.
Comedians and former Triple J presenters Matt Okine and Alex Dyson He shared the anecdote on his All Day Breakfast podcast.
The hosts had gone out to dinner with the couple in question, who had then ventured elsewhere to dance after the meal.
“This is how to ruin a stranger’s night,” Matt said, adding that the couple called the awkward encounter “the worst thing that’s ever happened.”
‘The couple is in this pub, dancing, the song ends and (the husband) goes to the bathroom.
‘(The wife) sits down and some girls come up to her and say, “Hey, if you need that guy to save you, let us know.”‘
The woman couldn’t believe that a group of strangers would assume she was being harassed by her life partner whose only crime, perhaps, was some overenthusiastic dance moves.
An unnamed Australian woman was out in public dancing with her husband, but when he went to the bathroom, strangers ran up to her and asked if she was being harassed.
“A couple of good Samaritans saw the situation and obviously thought I was bothering that lady,” Alex laughed.
“The husband isn’t sure what to do or how to move forward from this point,” Matt said.
“Those girls felt sorry for that poor, poor woman who was being subjected to the advances of this sleazebag.”
Many other Australian women reported similar cases where their husbands were berated in public.
“On vacation, there was a guy playing music at the restaurant where we were drinking and he started playing my favorite song, so I ran to get a seat in the front,” one recalled.
‘My husband, very drunk, followed me shortly after and started bothering me to dance with him, which I didn’t want to do. The musician stopped playing to yell at my husband to leave me alone and let me enjoy the song.
‘Bless him for being so chivalrous and trying to defend me!’
Another said: ‘This happened to me! A girl whispered to me “don’t go home with him” and I said… I live with him. We are married.
One man wrote: ‘If I were her I would laugh about it for weeks. But it’s not so fun when you realize that’s what women have to do for each other.
Some men joked about the encounter.
“This will probably happen to my wife someday,” one wrote.
“The way my jaw dropped,” a second added.
“Devastating,” said another. “I would appreciate it if you would take care of her, you deserve a round for that.”
