Alan Shearer criticized Marcus Rashford for his body language in the first half of Manchester United’s FA Cup match against Nottingham Forest.

United had a difficult first half against their opponents, leading 0-0 at half-time as they looked to draw against Southampton’s Liverpool in the quarter-finals.

The FA Cup raised what was potentially the last hope of success of the season for United, who have had a difficult campaign with uncertainty over whether Erik ten Hag will be manager next season.

Rashford has been one of the disappointments of the season for the club, but United had hoped to have turned a corner after a problem which saw him called in sick to training after being spotted in a Belfast nightclub last month.

Shearer, who works as an expert on the game for the BBC, led the criticism of the striker and called for him to take more responsibility for his actions.

“Sometimes I don’t like his body language. He is trying to send a message to the fans, it is not my fault. You, as an individual, must take responsibility from time to time for your actions on the field. Get up and move on.

“Marcus Rashford has yet to send the right message to the fans with his body language and at times this season he hasn’t. He is getting frustrated.”

After scoring 30 goals in all competitions this season, Rashford has found the back of the net just five times in the current campaign.

He was asked to play the number 9 role against Forest, and struggled throughout as United found it difficult to make progress towards goal without Rasmus Hojlund.

Antony once again struggled for United, meaning he has only managed one goal and one assist this season.

Things didn’t get much better for the Red Devils in the second half of the match, with players like Alejandro Garnacho and Antony also struggling at the top of the pitch.
