A widow who recently lost her husband and mother was treated on Thursday with her best friend of 47 years to a well-deserved ambush makeover.
Deanna Scharlemann, 61, from Tuscon Arizona, was led to believe that she was a finalist on the Today the popular & # 39; Ambush Makeover & # 39; segment of the show when she was flown to New York City to be reunited with her long-distance friend Karen, who lives in Denver, Colorado.
The two women were stunned when today's donor Donna Farizan appeared at the door of their hotel room to announce that they were being taken to Studio 1A for some priming and pampering with the show's glamor team.

It has been an incredibly difficult time for Deanna, whose husband and mother both died last year.
& # 39; The last few years have been really difficult for her & # 39 ;, Karen said about her girlfriend of almost five decades. & # 39; She has suffered a lot of losses. I thought she needed something to make it better, to cheer her up. & # 39;
& # 39; I couldn't ask for a better friend, & # 39; Deanna said as she leaned over to give Karen a big hug to thank her before she met the famous barber Louis Licari and Today lifestyle co-worker Jill Martin.
Karen was the first to enter the stage with a glamorous new hairstyle and a stylish outfit that was perfect for a night out at the Big Apple.
