Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks star Captain Charlie Griffin reportedly died in a boating accident on Monday.
The reality TV star with her dog Leila at the time of the accident that claimed both their lives near Pea Island in Dare County, North Carolina.
The announcement was made this week on Facebook.
“It is with the deepest sadness that we report that Charlie Griffin and his beloved dog, Leila, died in a boating accident today, March 4,” the note said.
‘Please keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers. We will always remember Griff!’
The United States Coast Guard also posted a message about Charlie’s death.

“On the morning of 3/4/24, the U.S. Coast Guard received a report of a delayed vessel traveling from Virginia to Wanchese, North Carolina,” the statement began.
The 35′ boat was subsequently located off Pea Island and the body of Charles Griffin Jr (Charlie Griffin) of Wanchese, North Carolina and his dog (deceased) were recovered ashore near the same.
‘The boat appears to have capsized somewhere near Oregon Inlet.
‘Officers are still searching for a second occupant who was on board the boat.
“The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission is leading the ongoing investigation along with the assistance of officials from U.S. Fish and Wildlife, the National Park Service, North Carolina Marine Fisheries, the Bureau of the Dare County Sheriff and the US Coast Guard.”
It is not known who that other person was.
In an effort to locate the second missing sailor, the Coast Guard said they were searching the coasts using all-terrain vehicles and a cutter in the water.
A helicopter departing from USCG Elizabeth City was conducting aerial searches.
But it began to rain and become foggy, causing the search to be suspended.
The last communication with the ship was on March 3 around 6:15 p.m. and the ship was near Nags Head at the time, a Coast Guard spokesperson told 13News Now.
Griffin was a native of Wilmington, North Carolina.
