M&S has warned customers not to put their luxury hot cross buns in the toaster, fearing they could start fires.
The UK-based supermarket chain – which sells 11.1 million packs of hot cross buns each year – introduced the three new varieties Extremely Caramely, Extremely Chocolatey and Extremely Cheesy to its range this year.
Although other M&S hot cross buns can be put in the toaster, the brand has had to put a safety warning on the packaging of these three new products.
It reads: “This product is not suitable for toasting in a household toaster. »
Indeed, the extravagant toppings could melt and catch fire inside the appliance.

Meanwhile, the thicker bread in these buns makes it more difficult to get them into household toasters, which also poses a potential fire hazard.
Instead, the brand urged customers to put the hot buns under the broiler if they want to reheat them.

M&S’s X account then responded: “Under the grill is the best way!” Just make sure you don’t have the heat too high and make sure you keep checking them, to prevent them from burning! You got this!’
In response, the once disgruntled customer exclaimed, “Two minutes under the grill worked wonders!”
After making the mistake of putting a chocolate in the toaster, another added: “M&S has triple chocolate hot cross buns.
“They’re amazing, but be warned: they will destroy your toaster!” Grill only! »
