Australian influencers are making waves online with a new bikini trend.

Social media stars including Tammy Hembrow, Skye Wheatley and Brittany Hockley have been flaunting their figures in revealing two-piece swimsuits consisting of stretchy “triangle” thongs, which some say look like a diaper or disposable underwear worn during a spray tan.

Australian beauty queen Gabby Epstein also recently flaunted her extremely slim figure on social media in a tiny leopard thong version of the trend.

However, many fans flocked to the comments claiming that the strange bikini bottom was unflattering on her.

“This is the most unflattering swimsuit I have ever seen,” wrote one person. “That bottom is hideous,” agreed another.

Fans also criticised Skye for her daring two-piece display, with one commenting: “That bikini looks like lingerie.”

Meanwhile, Brittany has also embraced the trend, sporting several different colours of the swimsuit style on her engagement honeymoon in the Maldives with her fiancé, Swiss footballer Benjamin Siegrist.

Celebrity stylist Jess Pecoraro, who works with the likes of Jackie O Henderson and Megan Gale, told Daily Mail Australia that the bikini style actually only flatters one body type.

“It’s great on Georgia Fowler or Dominique Elissa, for example. If you’re incredibly toned, that’s great,” she explained.

She says that when it comes to swimwear, especially as one gets older, more covered styles with a sleek cut can be sexier than barely-there trends.

“I think as you get older you start to feel like you don’t need to wear a tight bikini to look sexy,” she says.

‘I can wear a cute one-piece swimsuit and still say, ‘Hey, I’m sexier than the girl in the diaper bikini.’

It comes after another amazing A new trend recently emerged from Miami Swim Week 2024.

Designers have been inspired by 90s fashion and are now creating bikinis with rosettes using the popular flower-shaped decoration.

Highly sought-after brands such as Mahogany Coast Swim, Ema Savahl and Diva Boutique have chosen this flower as their star.

Rosette details add a three-dimensional element and a feminine touch to swimwear, making this season’s pieces feel romantic yet daring.

This comes after a surprising new trend recently emerged at Miami Swim Week 2024. Designers are taking inspiration from 90s fashion and are now creating rosette bikinis using the popular flower-shaped decoration.

The Blue Topaz show decided to embrace the trend in a subtle way by placing white rosettes on a strapless bikini set, but Milus Rose went all out and designed strappy bikini tops made of tiny rosettes meant only to cover the wearer’s nipples.

While countless fashion brands are revamping Y2K styles, the swim industry has decided to ditch the bright neon triangles in favor of a more stylish (if somehow more outrageous) trend.

A model walked the Milus Rose show in a pink crochet bikini with tiny rosettes on the top.

The designer also presented a two-tone denim bikini where one bra cup consisted of a rosette while the other was a simple triangle.
