This $10 serving of fries has Australians divided online

An Australian chip lover has taken to social media to rant about the “disgraceful” size of her chips – with the store blaming the cost of living crisis.

In a post on the local Crime and Information Facebook page, Karen expressed her outrage at the portion size she received at a chip shop on the mid-north coast of New South Wales.

Daily Mail Australia has declined to reveal the name of the store or the location.

“I’m not sure if this is just information or a crime,” Karen began.

Considering Australians’ love of spicy fries, many would say this is a crime.

Karen turned up the heat. “This is a $10 order of fries,” she wrote.

She added that she called the store to complain and was told that they had reduced the portion sizes.

“I’ve been talking to a few people who have told me they’ve complained about the same thing. Why isn’t anything being done?” he fumed.

Most of the responses to Karen’s post agreed on the sad portion size.

“Wow, that’s embarrassing!” wrote one.

“That’s exactly what we were worth today at $10,” another agreed.

Some users cut to the chase and put a dollar value on a serving of fries.

“It looks like a dollar,” wrote one.

Another added: “This is absolutely disgraceful, that’s worth like $2.”

One resident commented: “The same thing happened to us last week. We will not be going back there!”

‘Don’t come back… it’s ridiculous!’

Another local added that they will not be returning to the store.

“It’s sad because I was born and raised here and I have many happy memories of eating French fry sandwiches on the headland,” he added.

“It is no longer an affordable tradition for families.”

In response to Karen’s post, Facebook users suggested she complain to the store.

Karen replied that she had complained and that “they were very nice to talk to, but very defensive when it came to earnings.”

“There is no profit if no one supports the business.”

One jumped to the store’s defence, suggesting Karen take her business elsewhere – “quite simple really”.

Karen replied, “We will be.”
