A council has vowed to change its signage after residents of a particular street complained they were being charged parking fines “on a daily basis”.
Meha, of Drummoyne, in Sydney’s inner west, was fined $264 despite claiming the “no stopping” sign was not visible from the parking space.
Although there is a sign a few meters from where Meha parked on Formosa Street, it is hidden by a tree and faces in the opposite direction.

Other residents on the street have similar complaints of being ticketed for a sign that was not visible from where they parked.
Canada City Bay Council has said the existing sign meets Australian standards, but it will add additional signs to help reduce confusion.

Another resident suggested painting additional stripes on the road to warn drivers about where they can and cannot park.
Canada Bay City Traffic engineers determined that the sign “met the appropriate Australian standard” but agreed to install it.an additional sign at this location to further help drivers be aware of the “No Stopping” restriction.
