South Sydney is allowing some of its biggest stars to visit Disneyland ahead of next week’s season grand opening in Las Vegas – but only if they promise to use a mobility scooter.

Rabbitohs hooker Damien Cook took time off from the team’s camp in San Diego on Thursday to visit Disneyland with his family.

However, the club estimates that they would take around 20,000 steps if they toured the famous amusement park on foot and they do not want that workload to affect their performance in the first game of the season.

Cook agreed to rent a scooter, also known as an electric transportation vehicle (ECV), when he arrives to avoid strain on his body.

“Cooky has just returned from a small soft tissue injury, so it’s important for him in particular,” Bunnies high performance coach Andrew Croll said. The Sydney Morning Herald.

Rabbitohs hooker Damien Cook (pictured with his family) has agreed to use a mobility scooter while visiting Disneyland so as not to overexert himself before the club’s game in Las Vegas.

Souths are worried that players will walk too much if they go to the famous amusement park before the first game of the season, so they will have to use mobility scooters (pictured)

‘In fact, the boys came to us with the solution of renting scooters and strollers, which is positive for us. The alternative was not to go, so they met us halfway.

“On a normal day, guys take 10,000 steps, but if you’re at an amusement park, you’ll take 20,000 steps and cover an extra five to 10 miles with your legs.

‘We are trying to take advantage of the days off to refresh them because we are trying to peak for the first round.

‘Now it’s about training and resting on the days off. We’ve put some requirements on the guys who are out there with their families. “We want them to enjoy their time, but within reason.”

Other players and coaching staff, including forwards Keaon Koloamatangi and Sean Keppie, also plan to visit Disneyland while in the United States and have also agreed to rent ECV vehicles to get around the park.

Cook told the Herald he really wants to rest his legs for the clash with Manly.

“I have a one-year-old who I’ll probably have to take back into the room for a nap at some point as well,” Cook said.

‘So I’ll definitely be looking to move the scooter. I’ll be there early, so I hope I can rest my legs. You don’t want to walk too much.

Keaon Koloamatangi (pictured right in a game against St George) will also visit Disneyland with his family before the Las Vegas game.

The Souths flew business class to the United States earlier in the week and will stay in San Diego in the run-up to the match (pictured, Cody Walker celebrates a try against Manly)

‘There is a balance you have to find.

“It’s great that we’re here to do some sightseeing, but you have to try to limit it and keep it as normal as you normally would at home.”

Meanwhile, soccer clubs are telling their stars to stay away from party spots in Las Vegas before their games at Allegiant Stadium, but have prepared plans for a night out afterward.

But there are a handful of unlucky stars who won’t be partying at the world-famous casino.

Sydney Roosters gun Joseph Suaalii and South Sydney’s Davvy Moale and Jye Gray are all under 21, which is the legal age for drinking and entering nightclubs in Nevada.
