Alan Shearer and Thierry Henry were ignored when commentator Clive Tyldesley named his best Premier League striker.

Shearer to this day remains the league’s all-time leading scorer with 260 goals during his time with Blackburn and Newcastle.

Meanwhile, Henry is considered the greatest player to ever play in the top flight after some memorable years with Arsenal.

But Tyldesley doesn’t believe either are the best strikers the league has ever seen, and insists it is Chelsea legend Didier Drogba who takes the title.

Speaking on ‘The Byline’, he said: “I would almost say that if they had problems defensively because I can say that Alan Shearer is a good friend and he has been the best striker in the Premier League era, he would be one of those two and Don’t tell him I said this, but I think Drogba can be it.

Alan Shearer and Thierry Henry are considered by many to be the two best strikers in the Premier League.

However, commentator Clive Tyldesley says neither is the best, but Shearer comes close.

“I thought Drogba was just the greatest football talent, personality and iconic leader of a football team and you don’t have anyone even remotely in that league.”

Drogba spent nine highly successful years with Chelsea over two spells and won four Premier League titles, four FA Cups and one Champions League, scoring in the final of the latter in 2012.

That goal was just one of 10 he scored in 10 finals, and the Blues legend became famous for his great moments of play.

The Ivorian also scored 104 Premier League goals and registered 55 assists in 254 games for the Blues.

In comparison, Henry scored 175 league goals and 74 assists in four more games than Drogba.

Both Drogba and Henry’s medal collections surpass those of Shearer, who won just one Premier League title with Blackburn in 1995.
