Mark Zuckerberg’s public embrace of his wife Priscilla Chan could be helping the tech billionaire in the court of public opinion.
According to couples therapist Isabelle Morley, who spoke with Business Insider Informationmen presenting themselves as ‘wives’ can be a big deal.
“This shows that it’s okay for men to see having a positive relationship as an achievement, not just a professional success,” he told the publication.
“That wives are not just supportive people or best friends, but they are equal partners is a really good message to people,” she added.
Zuckerberg has proudly shown off his life with Priscilla on social media for the past few years.
According to Morley, it’s unclear whether this is a calculated PR move or simply a natural expression of his adoration for his wife.
“We could never rule out whether there are ulterior motives for him to do that or whether they have agreed that this is something they want for their public image if they have a whole PR team,” he said.
In August, Zuckerberg unveiled a rare statue of Priscilla.

Zuckerberg has proudly shown off his life with Priscilla on social media for the past few years.
The social media mogul, 40, shared a photo of the monument, which appeared to be made of copper and rusty green steel, on Instagram.
He wrote: “Recover the Roman tradition of making sculptures of your wife.”
Priscilla, 39, was pictured drinking a hot drink in front of the new statue, created by artist Daniel Arsham.
She shared the same image of her drinking in front of the sculpture and wrote: ‘You can’t miss me!’
The monument shows the former pediatrician staring straight ahead as she walks.
The statue of Priscilla appears to be naked, but her body is covered by a dramatic strip of highly polished stainless steel designed to resemble a robe.
Zuckerberg gave no indication as to what had inspired the act of love, but friends and followers were quick to applaud the gesture.
TV star Gayle King responded: ‘Wow! Is there a backstory here or just Tuesday night at your house? PS: Do you have an older brother who is black that I can meet? Asking for a friend.
In August, Zuckerberg unveiled a bizarre statue of Priscilla on social media.
Singer Liz Kelley wrote: “Husbands everywhere are shaking,” while rapper Yung Vec commented: “This is the most multi-million dollar thing ever made.”
Zuckerberg met his future wife at a party at his house during his freshman year at Harvard in 2003.
They married in May 2012, the day after Facebook’s initial public offering made him a billionaire.
The couple, who own homes in California and Hawaii, are parents of three daughters: Máxima, eight years old, August, six, and Aurelia, who is almost two years old.
Chan graduated from Harvard with a bachelor’s degree in biology and worked as a teacher for a year.
He returned to university in 2008 to train as a pediatrician and completed his residency in 2015.
