Queen Mary fans were left disappointed after seeing a photo of their favorite royal in Germany last week.
The 52-year-old stood elegantly alongside Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden, 47, and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway, 51, for the 25th anniversary of the Nordic embassy, who wore delicate brooches in the shape bow for the occasion.
The arch represents the German Grand Cross of the ‘Special Class’ Order of Merit, an honor which Queen Mary has not yet received.
Fans expected the popular monarch to receive the bow in October, when she and King Frederick traveled to Germany as part of the accession tour.
But it was not like that and he will have to wait for another state visit to Germany to receive the award.
It is awarded for special achievements in political, economic, cultural, intellectual or honorary fields, but the Queen is not guaranteed to obtain it.
The special class edition of the order of merit is only available to heads of state and their associates.
So far only 212 have received this honor.
Photos from Queen Mary and King Frederick’s recent trip to Germany have left fans disappointed.
Crown Princess Mette-Marit and Crown Princess Victoria have received Germany’s highest honor; Queen Mary does not.
And Queen Mary isn’t the only popular royal patiently biding her time.
Her husband, King Frederick, does not have that honor either, nor does Crown Princess Victoria’s husband, Crown Prince Daniel.
The queen has earned a long list of honors since marrying into the royal family.
Danish honors include Knight of the Order of the Elephant, Dame of the Royal Family Decoration of King Frederick X, Dame of the Royal Family Decoration of Queen Margaret II and Recipient of the National Guard Medal of Merit.
She was recently appointed commander of the Order of Dannebrog, which was awarded to her on May 26.
He also has international honors, including Grand Cross of the Order of the Crown in Belgium, Member First Class of the Order of Stara Planina in Bulgaria, and Commander Grand Cross of the Order of the White Rose of Finland.
