After being canceled in the ’90s, buttery chardonnay has been revived with “more balance and less butter bomb.”
So what makes them “buttery”?
It is a winemaking technique that involves a type of bacteria converting the malic acid in wine (the acidity naturally present in grapes) into lactic acid.
Basically, the process turns tart, harsh acid into smooth, creamy acid.
The aging time and the type of barrel used for the chardonnay It contributes to its degree of butteriness in both flavor and texture.

“It’s a beauty, the best $15 I’ve ever spent,” said one.
Another added: ‘I’m a big fan of this range of wines… Excellent value for money. Rich, tasty, lots of fruit. Good drop for this price.’
‘It’s like drinking velvet. It has a nice, mild flavor; I think a duck dish would be perfect with it. A pork steak with mild, sweet and orange flavors would also be a great combination,” one shared.
