Whoopi Goldberg claims CANNABIS is "the best medicine in the world" while promoting her own brand of marijuana, after admitting she takes controversial weight loss medications

Whoopi Goldberg has claimed that cannabis is “probably the best medicine on the planet” as she revealed she has used it medicinally in the past to help with painful menstrual cramps and is now launching her own brand of products.

The 68-year-old actor, who is set to launch his own line in July that includes edibles and pre-rolls, stressed that “medicine should be in the hands of the people” and said the use of cannabis for medicinal purposes “is no longer a taboo.”

In an interview with ForbesWhoopi explained why she thinks taking medication shouldn’t be uncomfortable: ‘We know that’s wrong. And people say, “well, that’s just anecdotal,” but it’s not anecdotal.

“Everyone you talk to will tell you that medicine doesn’t have to be scary. Especially when it’s herbal, when it grows out of the ground and doesn’t need additives, which means it can be reasonably priced so people will go pick it up.”

Whoopi’s brand is called Emma & Clyde after her late mother and brother, who both used cannabis (her mother medicinally and her brother recreationally), and The View host described them as “two people who represent marijuana as it is in the real world.”

Referring to her own reasons for using cannabis, the Sister Act star explained: ‘For people like me, it was always used to stop (menstrual) cramps, and the added benefit of that is that it was fun, it made you laugh and stuff. .

‘They’re not taboo anymore because we all know that women get their periods. We know. So you can make it difficult, what they’ve done in terms of creating something that helps women… But this (cannabis) we know it works.’

The mother-of-one added that her main reason for using it was to make sure she “could stop the pain” because products like Midol “weren’t working” for her.

“Medicine should be in the hands of the people,” said Whoopi, before calling the launch of her own brand, which will be available in stores on July 20, an “honor.”

However, this is not the first time Whoopi has embarked on this adventure, as in 2016 she launched the cannabis brand Whoopi & Maya together with Maya Elisabeth, but in February 2020, it was reported that the company had closed.

Over the years, Whoopi has been very open about her cannabis use and in 2014, she wrote in The Cannabist about her love for her kush-filled vaporizer, which she claims relieved her glaucoma-related headaches. .

And in a 2015 interview with High Times magazine, Whoopi said she was an advocate for the use of pediatric medical marijuana for sick children.

‘When we talk about marijuana and I hear people say, “Well, what about the kids?” Yeah, what about the kids?” the actor said.

“They know they could face jail time, but these are their children and they will do everything they can to relieve seizures or calm them down after chemotherapy.”

Most recently, Whoopi opened up about a different type of medication when she revealed why she decided to talk about taking Mounjaro to help her lose weight.

During an episode of The View earlier this week, Whoopi and the rest of the panel had a pretty tense discussion about “magic” weight loss drugs like Ozempic and Mounjaro and whether or not it’s “offensive” to ask someone if they are. is taking.

Halfway through the conversation, Whoopi blurted out: ‘Yes, I took Mounjaro. I did it, you know? I say this all the time because you can’t go over about 300 pounds without someone saying, “Okay, what happened?” Because you know I didn’t go to the gym! People know it!’

In March, Whoopi said on live television that she turned to medication after her weight ballooned to 300 pounds while filming the 2021 movie Till.
