Whoopi Goldberg has revealed she never wanted to get married, despite having married three times in the past, while complaining about the boredom and expense of her trio of divorces.
The 67-year-old star decided to open up about her past relationships on Tuesday’s episode of The View, when she admitted she “dances and prances” every time her marriages come to an end.
Whoopi has been divorced a total of three times, with her last marriage to labor organizer Lyle Trachtenberg ending in 1995.

The Oscar-winning actress and Joy, along with Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farah Griffin discussed dating and divorce throughout Tuesday’s episode, and made a point of talking about The Real Housewives of Miami star, Lisa Hochstein.
A few days ago, Lisa slammed ex-husband Lenny Hochstein on social media after learning of his engagement to girlfriend Katharina Mazepa, despite still being married to her.
The reality TV star reminded the world that Lenny is still married to her and wrote on her Instagram Stories, “Congratulations to my current husband and his mistress on their engagement.”
Joy, 80, was quick to comment on the situation and told the panel, “As a divorced person, I mean there’s a special kind of rage when you get divorced!”
Sunny, 54, wanted to know more and asked, “What’s so special?” to which Joy jokingly replied, “You are murderer, homicidal!”
As the live studio audience applauded, Joy continued, “A lot of women understand that. There’s something about… even if you want a divorce, there’s something about this heartbreak that makes you murderous.
Whoopi then blurted out: ‘I was dancing and prancing around, I was so happy to get out of there! Everytime! ‘Cause I always knew, I always thought, “You didn’t want to do this from the dizziness! You knew you didn’t want to do this and you did it anyway so shut up and move on thing !”
Joy then asked, “Why did you do that?” to which Whoopi replied, “I thought I could fit a round hole in a square peg. I thought that was what was for me.

“I was never meant to be married. And I know that and I knew that then and I kept trying to do what everyone would say I was supposed to do and then it was like, you know what, “it gets expensive and boring”.
Whoopi’s first marriage was to an addiction counselor named Alvin Martin from 1973 to 1979.
After her film career began, she married cinematographer David Claessen in 1986, but it wasn’t meant to be as they divorced in 1988.
Whoopi married her third and last husband, Lyle Trachtenberg, in 1994, but they separated the following year.
After her third divorce, she dated actor Frank Langella and playwright David Schein.
Her other ex-boyfriends are businessman Michael Visbal, orthodontist Jeffrey Cohen and cameraman Edward Gold.
Meanwhile, Joy has been married twice and dated her current husband, Steve Janowitz, for 29 years before getting married in 2011.
Before that, she was married to college professor Joe Behar from 1965 to 1981.
