Since Wicked hit theaters on Friday, fans have been wondering: who will play Dorothy in the upcoming second installment?
Now, the folks at X, formerly Twitter, are convinced they’ve figured it out, after they noticed a certain actress showed up at the premiere earlier this month wearing a suspicious accessory.
The two-part film adaptation of the beloved Broadway musical tells the story of how the Wicked Witch of the West came to be from The Wizard of Oz.
The first film, which earned a record $114 million in opening weekend at the US box office, only featured Dorothy for a brief moment.
She was seen walking down the yellow brick road with her friends Scarecrow, Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion in the opening scene, before going back in time to explain what led to those events.
But according to the trailer for the film series, Dorothy will appear more in the second half, which will be released in November 2025..
However, the actress who will play Dorothy has not been announced and her face was conveniently hidden in all the scenes in which she has appeared so far.
This has sparked immense speculation over who has been cast as the iconic character.

“The streets say that Abigail will play Dorothy in Wicked: Part Two,” one excited fan wrote on X earlier this week.
“Oh right yeah, miss is booked, busy and ready to take over the industry,” someone else responded.
Another user added: ‘The fact that she was wearing silver shoes at one of the premieres…’
‘This would be the peak. And she also knows how to sing,’ said a fourth comment.
“If this is true, go ahead and give Dorothy a song because she ate the Matilda soundtrack,” said a fifth.

The X people pointed out that the shoes looked a lot like the iconic glass slippers Dorothy wears in the movie, which made them wonder if she wore them as a nod to the character.
“She would be the perfect Dorothy,” gushed another person.
“The shoes she is wearing in addition to being at the premiere confirm it,” insisted another.
Others, however, pointed out that in the play on which the film is based, Dorothy is heard speaking but is never actually shown.
‘Dorothy is not in the musical, just a shadow in a very quick sequence. So it would be strange to add her as a character in the movie,” explained one X user. “The first part stuck pretty closely to the script.”
“I wonder how they’re going to use Dorothy in Wicked: Part Two since they didn’t use her in the stage production other than mentioning her in the dialogue,” another person wondered.
“There’s no way they’re hiring anyone to play Dorothy in the second part of Wicked.
“I don’t know why there is so much speculation when it’s very clear that she is a purposely faceless entity,” someone else stated.

Director Jon Chu previously confirmed to Variety that fans can expect to see more of Dorothy in Wicked: Part Two, but remained tight-lipped about how much she will be in it.
“Whether Dorothy has a speaking role or not, they still needed an actress to play her image,” another user noted. “Like the opening scene of her walking down the street.”

“We’ll revisit those characters in the second movie,” he said when asked about Dorothy, the Tin Man, the Scarecrow and the Cowardly Lion.
‘On the show, Dorothy is present. They have to intersect, and you can only provoke it to a certain point.
‘I won’t say if she’s necessarily a character in the second film. There’s a part of me that wants everyone’s Dorothy to be the Dorothy they want. And yet, there is interaction and some crossover. So I’ll leave it for the second part.
