X-Factor finalist Johnny Ruffo lost his battle with brain cancer on Friday at the age of 35.
And there was one steadfast person by his side throughout his fight: his girlfriend Tahnee Sims.
The 29-year-old, product development manager at White Fox Boutique, was described by Ruffo as his “guardian angel”.

“We’re just having fun. We make each other laugh so much, you know that heartbreaking laugh with tears streaming from your eyes?’
“We argue and fight like every other couple, but we also make up.”
Johnny and Tahnee first met at a dance studio in 2015 and have been inseparable ever since.

Tahnee regularly went to appointments with Johnny, sharing clips of the star undergoing treatment.

“We argue and fight like every other couple, but we also make up,” he said.
“What often crosses my mind, I hate to say this, is how difficult it could be for her if something happened to me.
“So that’s something I don’t want to think about. It just makes me a little emotional because I know that at some point something is going to happen, whether it’s, you know, in a month or in 10 years or in 20 years.
Ruffo also told Bickmore that he had already exceeded his life expectancy.
“At some point it’s going to catch me, but I’m still fighting. Still going. Looking at my diagnosis and my tumor, the average life expectancy was three years,” he said.
The singer explained in an excerpt from his new memoir, No Finish Line, that he hoped to start a family with Tahnee.

“Suddenly I had to discuss chemotherapy, radiation, and the need to freeze my sperm in case I became infertile,” he wrote.
“There’s something about almost dying that puts things into perspective for you… Up until that point, the only real things that mattered in my life, in no particular order, were acting, recording music, performing, Tahnee, family and partying. with friends,” he wrote.
The singer died Friday morning in a Sydney hospital, his spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia.

The heartbreaking news was announced on his Instagram page on Friday.
“It is with heavy hearts that we had to say goodbye today to our beloved Johnny,” we read in a press release.
“Surrounded by his partner Tahnee and his family, Johnny left peacefully with the support of incredible nurses and doctors.
“He was a very talented, charming and sometimes cheeky boy. Johnny was very determined and had a strong will. He fought until the end and fought as hard as he could. Such a beautiful soul with so much more to give.
“We all love you Johnny and we will remember you for all the joy you brought to our lives. Rest easy.

The singer died Friday morning in a Sydney hospital, his spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia. The actor passed away peacefully with his family and his beloved partner Tahnee by his side.
He was first diagnosed in 2017 and underwent life-saving surgery to successfully remove a seven-centimeter tumor at the time.
Born in the Perth suburb of Balcatta, Ruffo’s career in show business began when he successfully auditioned for the third season of The X Factor Australia in 2011.
A music career followed, with Ruffo releasing several hit singles, including On Top and Take It Home.
But he is perhaps best known for playing fan favorite Chris Harrington on Home and Away between 2013 and 2016.
He also appeared in this show’s rival soap opera, Neighbors, in 2020.
