She may have recently found new fame on America’s Got Talent, but 17-year-old Putri Ariani already has a successful music career in her native Indonesia.
Putri, born in Yogyakarta, has been blind since she was three months old.
Despite the challenges she faced, she learned to play piano, guitar, and flute, and began composing her own songs.
At just eight years old, she won Indonesia’s Got Talent in 2014 – and has gone from strength to strength ever since.

Recently, 63-year-old Simon Cowell pressed AGT’s golden buzzer, which propelled the singer into the live semi-finals.
Putri’s mother suffered a series of health complications during the pregnancy and the youngster was born premature at just six months.
But the talented performer hasn’t let her blindness stop her from achieving her dreams and has been singing since the age of three.
In 2014, she won Indonesia’s Got Talent and fully committed to her music career.
She continued on a series of other singing shows and slowly became a well-known face in her native homeland.
Putri became a finalist for The Voice Kids Indonesia in 2016 aged 10 – and two years later performed the Song Of Victory at the Asian Para Games.
Following the success of her TV show, she released nearly 30 songs on her iTunes during her teenage years, ranging from singles to live performances.
His most successful song, Tak Mampu Lupa, which translates to Can’t Forget, was released in 2022 and has received over 11 million plays on Spotify to date.
She continues to delight her fans by posting his original music, his cover songs, his charity projects and his journeys to his nearly two million followers on TikTok.

After Putri’s amazing performance on the show, all the judges enthusiastically stood up and clapped.

Simon said to her, ‘You’re only 17. You write songs, you have an incredible distinctive voice. You are, I think, one of the best singers we’ve ever had on our show’
‘My dream is to be the biggest diva in the world like [American singer] Whitney Houston, and to win a Grammy Award. I hope I can get into Juilliard for my college program.
After her amazing performance, all the judges enthusiastically stood up and clapped.
Simon Cowell, 63, told him: “You’re only 17. You write songs, you have an incredible distinctive voice.
“You have a kind of glow around you. You are, I think, one of the best singers we’ve ever had on our show.
After his moving words, he pressed the golden buzzer and Putri was automatically blasted into the live semi-finals.
