Who crashed Ronaldo’s £1.7m Bugatti Veyron? Football star on holiday protected by his bodyguards
Cristiano Ronaldo had just left his holiday home in Mallorca for a day out with his family when one of his bodyguards crashed his £1.7million Bugatti Veyron, it was reported last night.
The 37-year-old father of five was in another vehicle in a small convoy with his loved ones when his employee ran off the road and crashed into a stone wall.
The respected island newspaper Cronica Balear said the unnamed bodyguard got out of the car to continue his journey, leaving other staff of the Man United footballer on site to receive police.
It wasn’t immediately clear where the Portugal international might go next, but he has been pictured enjoying a day out with his family on his £5.5million Azimut Grande superyacht docked in Port Adriano in southwestern Mallorca.
Cristiano is believed to be renting a luxury villa near the site of Monday morning’s accident on a minor road near Joan March Hospital in Bunyola Municipality.
The damaged Bugatti was later taken away on a tow truck covered with a blue tarpaulin.

Cronica Balear said security guards left to look after the car while they waited for police to arrive “had done everything possible to ensure that curious residents who recognized the Bugatti as Cristianos tried to take photos.”
The identity of the person behind the wheel has not yet been released, but it is known that Cristiano Ronaldo and his family are protected in Cheshire by Portuguese twins who served as soldiers with an elite special forces unit in Afghanistan.
The strongmen have been named as Sergio and Jorge Ramalheiro, who later became part of a Portuguese personal protection unit tasked with watching over politicians and judges after serving in Afghanistan.
It is not known whether Sergio or Jorge Ramalheiro were involved in the crash.
Portuguese celebrity magazine Flash said the twins, part of triplets, were hired by Cristiano after they asked to go on unpaid leave from PSP police to pursue other interests.

The third brother, named Alexandre, still works as a police officer.
Spanish police confirmed yesterday afternoon that they had no information indicating that Cristiano was in the car at the time.
A well-placed source said: ‘The car slammed into a wall but there was only material damage, no one was injured and the driver took full responsibility for what happened.
“The information about who was behind the wheel and what happened is recorded in a police database and is there for a court or officers to access if further investigation is required.
“But it’s more about the information that needs to be recorded so that the owner of the damaged property can file a claim and use the police report as a backup in case a dispute arises over how the damage was done.” .’

Another insider added: “The accident happened on a minor road near Joan March Hospital.
“The car appears to have gone off the road and hit a wall that forms part of the protection of a house with a gas cylinder behind it.
An employee of Cristiano was apparently driving at the time and not Cristiano. He was certainly not on the scene when officers arrived.
Well-placed police sources described the damaged car as a Bugatti Grand Sport, suggesting that it was Cristiano’s £1.7million Bugatti Veyron who was involved, as local press reports indicated and not his limited edition £8.5million Bugatti Centodieci.
The first reports after the 37-year-old father of five flew to Mallorca last week said he had transported the Bugatti Centodieci to the island along with a Mercedes-Benz G-Class before then being reported that the Bugatti was the cheaper Veyron.
The whereabouts of the car were not immediately clear yesterday afternoon.
The only emergency services present were the police. Sources said no firefighters or paramedics had been mobilized.

Cristiano flew to Mallorca on June 14 with his five children and girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez.
They rent a luxury house at the foot of the Tramuntana Mountains and enjoy a day out on Cristiano’s superyacht.
It is the first time that Cristiano and Georgina go on holiday with their daughter Esmeralda, whose twin brother died in childbirth in mid-April.
They are expected to stay in the house for another three or four days.
The villa where they stay has its own gym, swimming pool surrounded by palm trees, several jacuzzis, a beach volleyball court and a mini football field.

It also reportedly has its own chapel and a rumored ‘erotic room’ beneath it – and is the same property that former Man U frontman Sergio Ramos team-mate chose for a previous vacation with wife Pilar Rubio and their children.
The footballer and his family picked Mallorca for their summer break last year before the striker announced he was returning to Old Trafford.
They stayed in a historic £10,000 a night coastal mansion on the island, built to defend the coast from British attacks.
The property was identified as Manresa Castle – Castell de Manresa in Catalan Spanish – after Cristiano posted photos of him relaxing with Georgina in early July last year.
Dating back to 1715, the sensational seven-bed estate where he stayed was built to fend off the British who controlled the island of Menorca at the time.
This new hiatus is the first since they announced the tragic death of Esmeralda’s twin brother on April 18.

Cristiano said in a heartbreaking statement after the death of their child: “It is with our deepest sadness that we have to announce that our little boy has passed away. It is the greatest pain parents can feel.
‘Only the birth of our girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness.
“We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all their expert care and support.
We are all devastated by this loss and we kindly ask for privacy at this very difficult time.
“Our little boy, you are our angel. We will always love you.’
