Who are the Glastonbury 2022 Festival headliners? Where can I watch them?

On Wednesday morning, Glastonbury opened its gates at Worthy Farm in Somerset for the first time in three years.

Thousands of fans are coming to the festival for the first time since the coronavirus outbreak.

Who are the headliners of Glastonbury festival 2022 and what days are their slots?

Glastonbury festival 2022 takes place between Wednesday 22 June and Sunday 26 June.

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the headline acts take turns closing each night with a close on the Pyramid Stage. There’s also a headliner Legends slot, scheduled for Sunday tea time.

FRIDAY: Billie Eilish. The 20-year-old Bad Guy singer becomes the youngest solo artist in Glastonbury history to headline when she takes the stage at 10.15pm on Friday.

SATURDAY: Sir Paul McCartney. The 80-year-old former Beatles member will become the oldest artist to ever perform at the festival after Saturday’s 10:30 p.m. performance.

SUNDAY: Kendrick Lamar. Unlike Billie and Sir Paul, 34-year-old rapper Kendrick will be playing Glastonbury for the first time on Sunday night. His lock starts at 9.45 pm.

SUNDAY TEA TIME: Diana Ross. The Motown legend, 78, will be playing the Teatime Legends slot on Sunday, which is scheduled for 4pm.

More than 3,000 artists will perform at Glastonbury festival 2022, more than seven main stages and 80 performances at Worthy Farm.

Here’s an overview of some of the big acts that will be performing at the festival:

FRIDAY ON THE PYRAMID PODIUM: Sam Fender, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, Wolf Alice, Crowded House, Rufus Wainwright, Ziggy Marley.

FRIDAY ON THE OTHER PODIUM: Foals, St. Vincent, Idles, Supergrass, First Aid Kit, Blossoms, Kae Tempest, The Libertines.

Elsewhere on Friday, Billy Bragg, Sugababes, Fatboy Slim, Carol Cox, The Undertones Arlo Parks, Primal Scream, Phoebe Bridges, Chempical Brothers and Little Simz will surprise festival-goers on various stages.

It has just been announced that Eurovision 2022 winners Kalush Orchestra from Ukraine will play Shangri-La’s Truth Stage on Friday.

SATURDAY ON THE PYRAMID PODIUM: Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Haim, AJ Tracey, Easy Life, Joy Crookes, Les Amazones D’Afrique.

SATURDAY ON THE OTHER PODIUM: Megan Thee Stallion, Burna Boy, Olivia Rodrigo, Glass Animals, Metromony, Skuny Anansie, Tems, Hak Baker.

Elsewhere on Saturday, Celeste, Jamie T, Yungblud, Jassie Ware, Scouting For Girls, The Hoosiers, Camelphat, Calvin Harris and many, many more will be performing at the festival.

SUNDAY ON THE PYRAMID PODIUM: Lorde, Elbow, Herbie Hancock, Dakhabrakha, Black Dyke Band

SUNDAY ON THE OTHER STAGE: Pet Shop Boys, Years & Years, Kacey Musgraves, Fontaines DC, Declan McKenna, Lianne La Havas, Sea Girls, Kojey Radical.

Elsewhere on Sunday, Charli XCX, Megan McKenna, McFly, Imelda May, Sub Focus and others will take over several stages.

And, as always, there will be some surprise sets during the 5-day spectacle.

Where can I watch the performances?

Glastonbury 2022 will be broadcast live on BBC iPlayer and BBC Sounds throughout the festival.

The BBC has pledged to provide more than 35 hours of coverage throughout the festival, also marking the first time the BBC has broadcast a music event in Ultra High Definition.

The BBC’s coverage of Glastonbury 2022 will be led by a host of familiar faces, including Zoe Ball, Dermot O’Leary, Lauren Laverne and Jack Saunders.

iPlayer’s special Glastonbury channel will launch on Thursday, June 23, and will feature live performances, preview programs and more over four days.

It will also be possible to watch highlights of the festival from different sets via BBC Music’s YouTube Channel

Will there be any surprise performances?

Some have speculated that Harry Styles could make a surprise appearance, with fans pointing to a hole in his tour schedule.

Others have speculated that Taylor Swift could perform after being booked at the 2020 festival before it was canceled due to Covid.

How many people will attend Glastonbury festival 2022?

The Glastonbury Festival is attended by approximately 200,000 people each year. In 1994, a record 300,000 people attended the festival.

When is Glastonbury festival 2023 and how do I get tickets?

Next year’s Glastonbury festival dates have yet to be confirmed, but it is expected to take place between Wednesday, June 21 and Sunday, June 25, 2023.

First round tickets usually go on sale in early October for the following year’s event, and pre-registration is required to be eligible.

To do this, you must upload a photo of yourself to the official Glastonbury websitea system set up to avoid the lure of tickets.
