They may be Princess Margaret’s great-grandchildren – but Samuel and Arthur Chatto have spent most of their lives out of the limelight.
Between the children of Mrs. Sarah Chatto and her husband, artist Daniel, only two years.
The brothers followed in the footsteps of Prince Harry and Prince William by attending Eton College and then both attended the University of Edinburgh.
But while they both had very similar educations, Samuel and Arthur pursued very different career paths.

Who is Samuel Chatto?
Lady Sarah Chatto welcomed her first child in July 1996. The couple’s eldest son is 29th in line to the throne.
Samuel grew up in Kensington, London and was sent to Eton College when he was 11 years old.
He then studied art history at the University of Edinburgh and trained as a yoga teacher before settling into a career in the creative industry – just like his artist father.

After graduating, Sam worked in an art market before becoming an artisan.
Explaining that he put his creative projects aside while studying, and later set up his own ceramics studio.
Speaking to the Daily Mail in 2019, he said: ‘I work in clay to make functional, sculptural wood-fired ceramics from my home and studio in West Sussex.

I have always had a strong affinity for creating things, having spent much of my childhood crafting imagined landscapes and sculptural models, which naturally led me to clay during my later years at school.
My creative work took a back seat while I was studying art history in Edinburgh, but I was revived in the summer of 2017 with a visit to North Shore Pottery (in Caithness).
Inspired by what I saw in Scotland, and completely uninspired by my three-month job in the commercial art market, I spent my weekends setting up a small home studio to rediscover my creativity and making a wood-burning oven at the bottom of my garden.
The property is also a trained yoga teacher and has undergone 200 hours of training, and spent six weeks in India to obtain the qualification. He told his Instagram followers that it was “an absolutely amazing experience and I’m so grateful for it.”
He went on the trip with his then-girlfriend, Sophie Pipe, a vegan blogger who shares his passion for mindfulness.
Sam also shared his close relationship with his younger brother Arthur on social media, posting a photo of the pair on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding day and writing: ‘I love you bro (and I’m not just saying you’re too big to crush me).

Lady Sarah’s youngest son appeared to the public for the first time as a page of honor to the late Queen, a key role he held between 2009 and 2015.
Arthur has been responsible for holding her gown at ceremonial events including the Service of the Order of the British Empire in 2012.

Arthur, who is an environmental campaigner like Prince William and Harry, was also part of a four-man squad that completed an epic scramble around the UK to raise money for the British Red Cross and Just One Ocean in 2020.

Since then, he’s drawn attention to a royal heart, donning his Marine uniform to the Queen’s Thanksgiving Service at St Paul’s Cathedral in 2022.
