An ‘office Karen’ has been criticized for footage of her calling security on a black woman for using a toilet in the office building where they both work.

The woman who was attacked posted a video last week of the unpleasant encounter at a law firm office in Buffalo, New York.

The woman, who uses the username @top-cat716, recorded herself leaving a bathroom in the building which she appears to have entered without problems.

But as she leaves, a white woman in the hallway, who seems to have been waiting for her, starts talking.

‘Can I ask who you report to so I can call the law firm?’ the woman asks.

The woman filming asks why it is a problem for her to use this bathroom, to which she is told, “Because you have to stay in the bathroom on the floor.”

‘Why do I have to stay in my apartment? Because?’ the employee responds.

It appears that both women work for the law firm on different floors of the building.

‘Why wouldn’t you stay in your flat?’ the white woman asked.

‘I can use any bathroom I want. This is the law firm where I work,’ the woman responded as she continued recording.

The other woman then says she will call security, before opting to go downstairs and make a report in person.

‘Please contact security. I work here. You sound stupid,’ he called her @Top_cat716 from the hallway behind her.

Viewers of the video, which has been viewed 850,000 times, have expressed their support for the woman who was reported.

Some encouraged her to continue using the bathroom on that floor.

Others wondered who named the other employee as ‘the bathroom police.’

Since spring 2020, recordings of white women confronting Black people for what sometimes seems like an arbitrary or inconsequential reason have become a popular genre of online content.

These so-called ‘Karens’ are intended to illustrate the broader social problem that is that of white people, and especially women, who oppose black people by accusing them of minor or made-up crimes and taking that opportunity to call the authorities in charge of doing so. obey the law.
