A white NYPD police officer claims that she has been harassed because she was in a relationship with a black man because of her boss.
Vanessa Weinbel said her black supervisor was angry about who she was dating and continued to discuss her interracial relationship.
Officer Weinbel’s boyfriend was not a member of the NYPD, but she is said to have received insults from her supervisor Lt. Rasheena Huffman, according to the New York Daily News.
One of the reports allegedly made was that black men only liked her because she looked like a “Kardashian chick.”
Weinbel claims that from July 2016 to March 2018 she was exposed to racial and sexually offensive comments from Huffman.
Allegedly she told the 35-year-old officer that she and her boyfriend had children. Weinbel would be “confused” and not know how to fix her daughter’s hair.

Huffman also allegedly made sexist comments about the back of Weinbel and suggested that she tried to seduce male colleagues by wearing close-fitting clothes.
In September 2016, the lieutenant reportedly went so far as to tell Weinbel a fright story in the news about a white man stabbing an interracial couple.
Reportedly, Huffman told Weinbel that she was lucky that she was not the victim of such an attack, and added: “The only thing they hate worse than black people are interracial relationships.
“They are tired of seeing black men with white women … so you have to praise yourself, because you would probably have been shot first.”
Last August, Weinbel filed a $ 15 million lawsuit at the office of the city controller against Huffman, who works at Police Service Area 9 in Flushing, Queens.
Weinbel claims that some of these comments were made in the presence of three senior officers who, according to her lawsuit, “did not take appropriate disciplinary action.”

During an administrative hearing at the Manhattan police headquarters on Monday, Weinbel said to a judge: “It was extremely uncomfortable for me. I walked on eggshells. “
At the same hearing, Marion Thompson, a black administrative assistant, said she also had a difficult relationship with Huffman.
Thompson claimed that the lieutenant commented that she found “very disrespectful,” and that when she brought her daughter to work and introduced her to Huffman, she made further comments about her child’s appearance.
She said to the court: “They [Huffman] looked at my daughter and said, “Oh, you have black hair like me.” You do not have white human hair like your mother ”.
“She didn’t like the fact that white women would go out with black men,” Thompson added.
The hearing should continue next week and Huffman denies those allegations.
