Xbox or PlayStation? GameStar readers have a clear favorite.
PC is the most popular platform among GameStar readers, no question about it. But if you’ve been sitting in front of your computer for work all day anyway, you might prefer to stare at a different, slightly larger or smaller screen in the evening.
But which consoles and handhelds do GameStar readers prefer to use? You voted – and the result surprised, but at the same time makes a lot of sense.
These consoles are highly rated by GameStar readers
The typical GameStar reader is tech-savvy, likes shooters, strategy, simulations and role-playing games, and rarely does anything with cuddly optics in their games. The result of our survey is all the more surprising, because the Nintendo Switch actually takes first place here:
The Nintendo Switch is the console that most of you have bought.
The Switch is a console that stands for colorful games like no other: It doesn’t matter whether it’s Mario, Kirby, Animal Crossing or Pokémon – many exclusive titles seem rather child-friendly at first glance.
But: Almost all of these games are consistently great. For example, Super Mario Oddyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild are loud Opencritic the two highest rated games of all time. Not even masterpieces like Elden Ring or God of War achieve an average rating of 97 points.
And since Nintendo games have never been officially released for PC before, it makes sense that GameStar readers wouldn’t want to miss them either.
Or as reader Enoxios would put it:
Gaming PC + current Nintendo console has always been a solid combo
For the same reason, the PlayStation 5 is likely to have landed in second place and the PS4 in third place: Although more and more exclusive titles are also appearing on the PC, you can usually wait several years until the time comes. And to be able to play fantastic games like God of War Ragnarök, Ghost of Tsushima or the remake of Demon’s Souls without waiting, you can’t avoid buying a console.
The Xbox consoles, on the other hand, are much less popular with you, after all, all Xbox games are now also available for the PC – you can use the money and the space on the TV for other things.
