Outraged Wheel of Fortune fans shared their frustration over a contestant who lost more than $7,000 after making a huge mistake.
On April 30, contestant Kimberly Wright from Apopka, Florida, came very close to winning $7,250, but she made an embarrassing mistake that sent fans into a frenzy.
The contestant made it to the quick round, where the remaining letters on the board read ‘DU _ _ – _ _ LLED PLATYPUS’.
The audience began to applaud, as the answer, which was “duck-billed platypus”, was obvious to them.
But Wright decided to imagine the letter ‘F’ because he thought the answer was ‘platypus stuffed with duck’. The audience groaned knowing that he had made the wrong decision.

Wheel of Fortune was taken aback by Wright’s incorrect response and made its opinions known on social media.
‘Oh God, that was painful. F??’ an X fan, she wrote. —Did you think the platypus was full? with what exactly? #Wheel of Fortune’
‘Where did this lady think an F was going to go in this puzzle?’ another intervened.
“I’ve never been more furious watching the Ferris wheel,” said a third.
‘A platypus stuffed with duck!?’ another fan wrote in disbelief.
‘Oh, I hope Red isn’t on social media. They are going to criticize her for missing that puzzle,” commented one viewer.
The episode, which aired nearly a month after Wheel of Fortune veteran Pat Sajak taped his final show, was hosted by Sajak.
Sajak’s final show, which he hosted for more than 40 years, will air on Friday, June 7, according to Deadline. On April 5, the farewell episode was recorded.
The legendary presenter confirmed that he would retire from the show in June 2023.
