What to Expect in Call of Duty: Warzone Pacific Season One
With the recent launch of Call of Duty: Vanguard, we’re just days away from the start of Season One, which brings with it the launch of the new map Caldera in Warzone Pacific. Caldera marks a new era of pulse-pounding tactical combat on a grand scale.
Starting December 8, with the start of Season One, Vanguard players will be able to access Caldera 24 hours early before it opens to everyone on December 9. With a special playlist of new vehicles, the introduction of Vanguard weapons and more, there’s a whole lot to look forward to as we kick off another epic year of free content.
This is one big island. Caldera consists of 15 huge, different areas to explore and battle over, including hundreds of interesting points to explore and use to your advantage. We’ve highlighted just three to give you an idea of what to expect:
This sprawling shipyard on the north coast of Caldera offers a strategic mix of indoor and outdoor combat, including unusual combat locations such as the deep dry dock basins and radar array. Further inland is a cluster of large buildings with abundant loot.
Clear water lagoon
An old lighthouse overlooks a shallow bay with bamboo huts next to a quaint coastal community of more recently built homes. Traverse the lagoon to uncover its secrets, including the remains of Captain Butcher’s plane.
The main town of Caldera, located in a huge natural basin along the south shore of the island, has a variety of historic buildings built on either side of a working tram system. Hilly suburbs and a lighthouse offer space and height compared to the bustling center, while coastal developments south of the city offer a luxury yacht club and beach bar.
There is also the central volcano, after which the island is named. Only the fiercest operators can hope to face the dangers.
Season One Brings Vanguard Integration
When Season One launches on December 8, all Call of Duty: Warzone players will have access to Vanguard content, including 40 new weapons, over a dozen new Operators, plus Vanguard Calling Cards, decals, and more.
Cross-progression between Vanguard and Warzone will also be enabled, allowing you to rank up through Seasonal Prestige and unlock new content through the Battle Pass system, Challenges, and in the Store through new Vanguard content in both games.
Try the new content on Rebirth Island too, as Season One brings Vanguard to the entire Battle Royale experience.

Innovations for the Warzone Experience
Keep your Gulag gear: Players who win their Gulag match will now fall back on the map with the gear they were given prior to the duel. Deal efficiently with the enemy and return to Caldera with more tools at your disposal.
Balance sheet adjustments: In preparation for the launch of Warzone Pacific, Raven Software has been scrutinizing a series of balance changes. Dead Silence is getting nerfed. Stop power rounds are gone. Stun Grenades, Heartbeat Sensors, and dual-wield melee weapons are also being tweaked. Expect buffs too, especially for lethal and tactical gear.
Pacing Adjustments: Players can only purchase Loadout Drop Markers from Buy Stations after the Loadout Drop event has occurred in the match, increasing the importance of the looting gameplay loop and slightly shifting the balance of the match power curve.
Gas mask changes and new gas cylinders: Gas masks won’t interrupt as much action as before, so you can focus on the action at hand when battles collapse in and around the circle. Season one also introduces the Gas Canister, which when exploded releases the same noxious fumes, albeit within a smaller radius.
Shallow waters: The shallow waters in areas like the lagoon make it harder to see enemy footprints, even with the Tracker Perk equipped. Operators crouching in knee-high water also gain the effects of Cold Blooded. Finally, fire-based equipment now emits smoke when hitting water, offering new tactics when traversing shallow pools.
Contracts and public events: Caldera introduces new contracts such as the Supply Drop Contract and the Big Game Bounty. Public events such as Restocks and Resurgences from Rebirth Island also come to Caldera.
