It was a dramatic and terrifying moment seen around the world: Gunshots rang out and former President Donald Trump touched his right ear before ducking behind the podium.
Secret Service agents rushed to cover Trump’s body as attendees at the Republican candidate’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, screamed and sought shelter in the chaos.
The group of agents and the former president finally stand up, and the former president with blood on his face raises his fist before being quickly taken away from the scene.
Now it has been revealed what exactly Secret Service agents and Trump said in the dramatic seconds before he was taken from the stage to his waiting motorcade after being shot.
Microphones picked up the words of Donald Trump and his Secret Service agents as they rushed to protect the former president and get him off the stage after the assassination attempt.
As the officers and Trump stand, one officer can be heard yelling, “We’re moving. We’re moving.”
‘‘Let me get my shoes. Let me get my shoes,’ Trump said.
“I got him, sir. I got him, sir,” a second officer responded as they used their bodies to shield him.
“Let me put my shoes on,” Trump repeated.
“Wait. Your head is bloody,” the first officer said. Trump can be seen with blood on his face after a bullet grazed his ear.
“Sir, we need to get to the car, sir,” the second officer said.
Trump insisted: “Let me get my shoes.”
“Okay,” the female agent replied.
“Wait, wait, wait,” Trump said.
He then raises his fist in the air with a defiant look on his face.
“Fight, fight, fight,” Trump shouted to the crowd of loyal supporters.
“We have to move. We have to move,” one officer said as he was led off the scene.
Secret Service agents rushed onto the stage and pushed Trump to the ground after shots were fired.
Microphones around the stage captured dramatic details of the response to the shooting, including the moment Trump ordered his agents: “Let me get my shoes.”
As Trump raised his fist toward the crowd, he shouted, “fight, fight, fight.” Some were heard cheering his name and chanting “USA” and “Make America Great Again.”
Much of his words were picked up by microphones as Trump was delivering remarks at a campaign rally in the western part of the state before multiple gunshots rang out.
Microphones also captured the officers as they used their bodies to cover the former president and prepared to make their move.
“Turn the spare tire around, turn the spare tire around,” one officer said, referring to Trump’s car.
“Go to the spare. Wait. Wait. When you’re ready. It’s your turn,” said an officer.
The officers then said, ‘Ready,’ ‘Move,’ ‘Up,’ ‘Move.’
“Come on, come on, come on,” an officer shouted.
“Hawkeye is here,” one agent responded, referring to the assault team’s code name.
“Hawkeye is here, moving to the spare tire,” a female officer responded.
Moments later, officers were heard saying: “The shooter is down. Can we move?”
It was then that the group slowly rose from the ground.
Blood can be seen pouring from the side of the former president’s head as he is rushed to the waiting motorcade.
The FBI is leading the investigation into the attempted assassination of the former president and its work is just beginning as questions remain about how the shooter was able to get so close to the former president and likely Republican nominee.
Investigators identified the possible killer as Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, who was shot and killed by Secret Service officers.
The registered Republican and 2022 high school graduate opened fire on the former president with an AR-style rifle from a rooftop 130 yards from the rally stage at 6:15 p.m.
One man attending the demonstration was killed and two other attendees were seriously injured.
The victim has been identified as Corey Comperatore, 50, a retired fire chief, husband and father of two daughters, who was sitting behind the former president at his rally.
The 50-year-old man died a hero and his family revealed he was shielding his young daughter and wife from gunfire when he was killed.
