The College Football Playoff is here, and while that means the season is coming to a close, it also means another month of football thanks to bowl games taking place almost every day for the next few weeks. Bowl season culminates with the College Football Playoff National Championship, which will crown the first champion of the new 12-team playoff on Monday, January 20.

Bowling season begins Saturday with the Cricket Celebration Bowl at 12 p.m. ET. There will be six bowl games through Thursday before a busy weekend that will see a pair of bowl games, namely the StaffDNA Cure Bowl and the Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl, serve as appetizers before the main course: the first round of the College Football Playoff.

When is the College Football Playoff?

The College Football Playoff will begin with first-round games on December 20-21 (see full schedule below). The winners of those matchups will advance to the quarterfinals, scheduled for New Year’s Eve and Day. The semifinals will be on January 9 and 10, and The national championship will be on January 20.
