This is the shocking moment a police officer dressed as the Grinch punched a reveler to the ground after he allegedly mocked his partner at a Christmas parade.
Footage captured the moment one of the officers hit a man, who was drunk, at the event in La Pintana, Chile, known as ‘Caravana Navideña MICC’, which translated as ‘Christmas Caravan’.
The officers involved in the altercation are believed to belong to the Carabineros, the Chilean national police.
In the video captured by a bystander, the man can be seen running after the officer, causing him to retaliate.
The officer then charges toward the man and delivers several punches, one of which ultimately causes him to fall to the ground.
The situation appears to have ended when the officer is filmed standing over him, while screams and screams can be heard in the background.
A woman dressed as an elf can also be seen jumping out of a vehicle on the road as she runs towards the scene.
Both officers were reportedly sitting in a van when the incident began after the man allegedly decided to harass one of them.
The footage captured the man allegedly harassing the officer and his colleague at the event.
The man was filmed running after the officer, causing him to turn around.
The officer can be seen approaching the man as he stood on the sidewalk.
Images captured the moment the officer threw some punches at the man at the event.
The video ends with the officer throwing a final punch that leaves the man on the ground.
Many of the 200 people who attended the event witnessed the fight as they lined both sides of the street for the Christmas parade.
About ten people at the scene were able to safely remove the officer after the incident.
The man who was punched was taken to a nearby hospital where he was treated for a dental injury and minor injuries to his lower back.
MICC Christmas Caravan is a traditional Chilean festive event in which trucks decorated with Christmas lights travel through the streets.
Brass bands also tour a commune to spread holiday cheer and hand out candy to children for three days, usually between December 21 and 23.
