Westpac has suffered a major outage for the second day in a row

Westpac and St George have suffered major outages for the second day in a row, with customers furious at not being able to access online banking.

More than 2,000 complaints about Westpac’s outage were lodged on Downdetector just before 2pm on Tuesday.

Many have complained that they are unable to access online banking and the app as a result.

Some business owners have said the technology problem meant they couldn’t pay staff.

‘Westpac why can’t I upload anything to the app? “I can’t even see when my credit card billing is due, it just keeps charging,” one Westpac customer wrote to X.

‘It’s down again right now! That’s two days in a row!’ another wrote.

‘Westpac did it again! Never disappoint your customers with frequent outages. Let the fun continue!’ said one.

‘Again! This happened yesterday! Get your shit together,’ said another.

St George customers reported similar issues on Tuesday, with Downdetector receiving just over 200 complaints.

‘We are aware that customers are experiencing problems accessing mobile and online banking. Our teams are working to resolve the issue. “We are sorry for the inconvenience and will continue to share updates here,” the bank said.

Just hours earlier, the bank had confirmed that the outage had been resolved.

Westpac shared a similar statement with X on Tuesday afternoon saying it was aware customers were “experiencing issues accessing mobile and online banking”.

‘Our teams are working to solve the problem. “We are sorry for the inconvenience and will continue to share updates here,” the bank said.

Thousands of Westpac and St George customers suffered an earlier outage on Monday.
